An early attempt at detecting artwork borders consisted of the following steps: Gaussian blur
Combine x and y Sobel Filters (w/ scaling)
Gaussian blur
Canny edge detection
Finding Hough lines
Extrapolating the intersection of the Hough lines to get corners
The choice of the Sobel filter was motivated by the great number of artwork images with light and gradual transitions between the artworks and their surrounding mattes, as well as between the paper artworks and their backgrounds. The smoothing in the Sobel filter makes it an edge detector well equipped for gradual borders. The Gaussian blur was used to minimize the interfering details within the artworks. The Canny edge detector was then used to fill in discontinuities in the borders. Finally, Hough lines were found, in the hopes that the most prominent lines would be along the edges of the artwork. "The analysis suggests that Jeter does not rely on baseball clichés, the “We’ll get ’em tomorrow, one game at a time” waste of oxygen that can cause sportswriters to daydream of baseball-free winters. But he does have pet phrases, like “swinging the bat.”"

"The term “coffee break” was unknown before 1952, when the Pan-American Coffee Bureau ran the ad campaign “Give yourself a Coffee-Break — and Get What Coffee Gives to You.” It was later popularized by John Watson, a psychologist who was working for Maxwell House"

Investor Wants Yahoo and AOL to Merge Into Single Corporate Catastrophe

"Based on our analysis, we believe that a combination of Yahoo and AOL could offer synergies of up to $1 billion by significantly reducing the cost overlaps in their Display advertising businesses as well as synergies in corporate overhead. Importantly, we believe the combined entity would be able to more successfully navigate the ongoing industry changes, such as the growth of programmatic advertising and migration to mobile. In addition, we believe a combination could also lead to revenue growth opportunities given the broader user base, higher quality content, better technology assets, and enhanced relationships with advertising agencies."
